It is day 5 of my food and exercise log, and yesterday I spent most of the day feeling very hungry and having to fight off cravings for food. I think a lot of people do not realize how dieting is and how hard it is to make these transitions to a healthy lifestyle when you have not been very healthy in the past. Not to say I have always eaten bad foods, I very rarely eat fast food or takeaways, but I think it is the portion sizes that are difficult. After watching more strictly, I am definitely feeling fuller quicker. It is especially difficult while I am on my period and constantly wanting to just tear into the chocolate bar on my shelf. But I am more interested in making lifestyle changes and living healthy and doing good things for my body than just losing weight. That is a big part of why I want to do this, because I am in the overweight BMI section and I would like to lose 20-30lbs, but it is a health thing. Food is like an addiction. It is comfortable to eat what and how you have always eaten, and when you limit that, your brain and body react against what you want to do.
I have been compiling a list of the healthiest foods with good nutrients for my body, and I am trying to find recipes to do things with them that I will like. I really am not one for a lot of vegetables, I love starch, but it is hard to get me to eat a lot of veggies without flavoring them a certain way or cooking them in things. Some foods I have looked at so far are artichokes and I found a recipe for stuffed artichokes that I would really like to try! I have some seasoned ground beef that I used in soft tacos put away in the freezer, so I am really looking forward to trying this next week. Also, I found a good recipe for guacamole as well. The main thing I was looking for in recipes is simple, yummy, and that they list calories. Being a student, I do not have access to all the things I would if I was at home, but I feel like I can still make healthy, yummy foods in the little kitchen I do have!
Well, my boyfriend and I are going to be leaving on a walk soon to see some art galleries, and I will probably pick up some Subway while we are out. I hope you have a wonderful day/evening, and remember that you are beautiful.
Love,
Erica
